Track Information - Working Connections - Linux Administration

This course is for individuals with limited prior experience in Linux who want to develop skills for using and administering Linux workstations and servers. In addition to learning these skills, students will complete projects installing and configuring a number of open source solutions that typically drive adoption of Linux: including Moodle, Wordpress, MediaWiki, and Joomla!.


Material will be provided using Moodle, an online course management system, and a substantive portion is derived from the text which maps completely to the Level 1 Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exam and all the other Linux certifications.


Prerequisites

Attendees should have knowledge of operating systems and networking as a power user and some introduction to system administration tasks.

  • Writing Shell Scripts
  • Advanced Topics and Troubleshooting


Expected Outcomes

  • Attendees should be able to install and administer a Linux workstation or server.
  • Attendees should be able to install a basic software system based on Linux using Apache and PHP/MySQL.
  • Attendees should be ready with limited practice to successfully certify through the Level 1 Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exam.
  • Attendees should be prepared to successfully offer a Linux Administration course at their school using a learning management system such as Moodle.
